2020 – A year punctuated by New Norms.

In a year highlighted by forced-changes, lock-downs, economic uncertainty and a global health crisis – it’s pleasing to see many Cleaver Partners clients successfully adapting and navigating their way through the challenges thrown at us through the covid-19 influenced economic landscape. The new normal has brought us work-from-home, online meetings, new social etiquette and changes in consumer buying behaviors. It’s been good to observe many positive outcomes for business and wellbeing as a result of new thinking and implementing new approaches to business processes and daily life. Nice work.

Important updates regarding the IRD Brightline test.

IRD have started sending out letters to taxpayers who have sold land within two years of purchase, implying that unless the property was used as the taxpayers main home, any profit may be taxable and that the tax return should be filed by 07 July 2021.  In some cases, IRD is sending letters to taxpayers who do not meet the Brightline tax criteria.

If you receive a letter from IRD – we suggest do not respond directly.  Please contact our office immediately so we can review your position.
